as chris went for a boys-skiing-week with his brother and his nephew, i decided to take pea for a week in the mountains with my mum.

first christmas

to make our first christmas as a family of three even more special we rented an apartment in the mountains for a week. luckily we found something where nani & nonno spend most of their winters. we were even luckier as auntie dani decided to spend christmas with all of us!

even götti & uncle jonathan and michael came to visit us for one day which  was a lot of fun (not to mention the bags of presents they brought...)!

although we didn't celebrate at home we put up a christmas tree. 

pea couldn't have cared less though...

of course we also had christmas crackers (and spaghetti bolognese for our christmas dinner, but that's another story...)

we really enjoyed our christmas vacation and could have stayed much longer!

samichlaus!

on the 6th of december we celebrate samichlaus in switzerland. celebrations for santa in switzerland are quite different from UK or US traditions. swiss santa is accompanied by schmutzli (the evil companion of samichlaus - aka santa claus - who threatens disobedient children) and they visit families with a donkey, not a reindeer-drawn sleigh. kids recite poems promising to behave better next year and whether they're naughty or nice, they receive bags of chocolates, walnuts, tangerines and ginger bread!

we were invited at our friends house and i was very excited to dress pea in his santa's little helper outfit. he wasn't too impressed...

at the beginning of december we went to the uk to have a pre-christmas lunch with granma & grampa, uncle dave & auntie lorraine and cousin jake. somehow we missed to take ANY pictures of the family... everyone really enjoyed it and of course pea was the center of attention.

first vacation

to celebrate my mum's 60th birthday she invited the whole family to dubai. many people told us we must be crazy to travel with a 3 months old baby but we didn't even think twice. we travelled a lot pre-pea which probably makes us quite easy-going and we weren't nervous about the trip at all. deciding to just go with the flow and deal with problems only as they appear was the best thing we could have done!

we had a wonderful week full of celebrations and family time. everyone enjoyed it a lot especially my mum who got to spend her birthday with all of us in such a beautiful place.

pea was an angel on the plane and although it was quite bumpy he slept through almost the whole flight (i'm fully aware that there wouldn't have been anything for us to do if he would have decided to scream and shout for 6 hours...)

i'm happy for any excuse to decorate our apartment and invite some friends... and halloween sure is! also i've ordered a baby bat costume when i was pregnant and couldn't wait to dress him up!

that's actually the only picture he wasn't screaming! i had to take him out his costumes after 2 minutes...

pink ribbon charity walk

in order to encourage breast cancer patients and their families and to show our solidarity we participated at the pink ribbon charity walk. of course pea had to get a suitable outfit...
